Degradation of Steel Wires in Bimetallic Aluminum–Steel Conductors Exposed to Severe Corrosion Conditions

چکیده
High-voltage electrical cables are prone to saline corrosion, mostly in coastal environments. Steel wires a crucial element withstanding the mechanical solicitations of commonly used aluminum conductor steel reinforced (ACSR) cables. An experimental accelerated corrosion test was made, using salt spray tests on greased and ungreased ACSR individual galvanized wires. The mechanism occurring specimens observed by optical microscopy for several durations determine evolution galvanic layer substrate degradation. This study completed an SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) Raman spectroscopy analysis characterize products estimation mean zinc thickness loss is also given, each type specimen. It shown that rate significantly reduced presence layers around effect grease. Tensile were made exposed which led fracture surface observations assess properties.

Corrosion of Orthodontic Wires According to Heat Treatment Conditions
Heat treatments are applied to orthodontic wires in order to relieve the stresses arising during orthodontic work. Four types of wires were heated in air, argon or vacuum environments, and cooled in the furnace or in a water bath. The susceptibility to corrosion and mechanical properties of the heat-treated wires were investigated. Heat treatment marginally increased the yield strength and elas...
متن کاملStudies of Carbon Steel Corrosion in Atmospheric Conditions
One of the most frequently corrosion type is the atmospheric corrosion. Carbon steel behavior at atmospheric corrosion is presented on base of the literature data study. This has been reported to account for more failures in terms of cost and tonnage than any other type. About 80% from all degradations produced by corrosion in the metallic constructions are due to the atmospheric corrosion. The...
متن کاملEvaluation of Hybrid Fiber Reinforced Concrete Exposed to Severe Environmental Conditions
Hybrid fiber reinforced concrete (HFRC) consisting of two or more different types of fibers has been widely investigated because of its superior mechanical properties. In the present study, the effect of the addition of steel (0.25%, 0.5%, 0.75%, and 1% of concrete volume) and Polypropylene (0.2%, 0.4%, and 0.6% of concrete volume) fibers on the surface scaling resistance of concrete, depth of ...
متن کاملAn evaluation of carbon steel corrosion under stagnant seawater conditions.
Corrosion of 1020 carbon steel coupons in natural seawater over a 1-year period was more aggressive under strictly anaerobic stagnant conditions than under aerobic stagnant conditions as measured by weight loss and instantaneous corrosion rate (polarization resistance). Under oxygenated conditions, a two-tiered oxide layer of lepidocrocite/goethite formed. The inner layer was extremely tenaciou...
متن کاملDegradation of orthodontic wires under simulated cariogenic and erosive conditions.
This study examined the effect of cariogenic and erosive challenges (CCs and ECs, respectively) on the degradation of copper-nickel-titanium (CuNiTi) orthodontic wires. Sixty wire segments were divided into four treatment groups and exposed to CCs, ECs, artificial saliva, or dry storage (no-treatment control). CC and EC were simulated using a demineralizing solution (pH 4.3) and a citric acid s...
